After the whole ODesk identity theft issue I blogged about on April 18, I waited a week or so for a response. They took down the fake profile a couple days after I submitted the complaint, but I didn’t get a follow-up right away. Finally, I received this  message:

We apologize for the delayed response.
We have suspended this contractor’s account for abuse.
Please let us know if you need further assistance.

So, that’s the end of that tale. I’ll be offering tips and ideas on how to handle (and prevent) this kind of identity theft next week over at The WM Freelance Writers Connection.

In other news

  • I was pleasantly surprised today when I received a certificate in the mail from EIMA. An article I wrote for Florissant Patch was a runner up for the Mike Sweeney Press Award. Thanks to the folks at EIMA for the recognition. I sincerely appreciate it!
  • My role at Patch is evolving. While I’ll still be doing some reporting, I’m moving into some new territories in the coming weeks, including helping facilitate community events and meetups, working with bloggers and more. I’m looking forward to expanding my horizons a bit. 🙂
  • Things at Scrubs & Suits are shaping up nicely. Our new business development director is digging right in and making great contacts left and right. We’re working on some new projects that will be announced soon, and I’m really excited to keep the momentum going. More news to come on this one!
  • The WM Network’s big announcement has been delayed temporarily due to time constraints, but we hope to be able to maintain our original plan for the launch date. Stay tuned for updates.

Some stuff I wrote

Here are a few of the articles I’ve had published since my last update.

So that’s it for me! I’ll be back next week with more news and updates. 🙂 What have you been up to this week?
